Memory Foam, or visco-elastic polyurethane foam as it is sometimes known, was originally developed by NASA for the space programme.  Because of it’s ability to distribute pressure across the entire surface, it was hoped that it could ease the stress of extreme G-forces.

Today it is widely used in medical applications, e.g. to help bed-bound patients who are prone to bed sores.

It was initially too expensive for general use, but advances in production techniques now mean that memory foam is widely available for domestic use.

It’s most common domestic uses are as mattresses, pillows and mattress toppers.

Kayfoam manufacture both mattresses and mattress toppers in standard single, double and king size but other sizes can be manufactures on request.
